Disadvantages

The vegetal sponge produced from cellulose extracted from trees has some disadvantages::
- It is extracted from trees.
- It produces contaminant residuals during the production process.

The sea sponge is produced from sea animals skeletons found in the deepest zones of the hottest seas. The soft parts coming away from them, are mixed, decolorized and dried until obtaining the rigid sponge. This sponge is more expensive.

On the other hand, the synthetic sponges are made with materials such as:
Nylon, perlon or gum. These materials produce pollution both during their preparations as well as in their residuals.
